OSI is well known for its meat products that are supplied to popular dining establishments like Pizza Hut, Subway, Starbucks, and more. The OSI Group has received many awards for its product’s health management and safety environment for products like bacon, hot dogs, fish, pork, meat patties, poultry, vegetables, and products made from a dough source.
OSI operates under OSI Industries, LLC. It owns plants throughout the United States and more facilities in Western and Eastern Europe and the Asian-Pacific areas. OSI Group produces popular brand named foods and products for the food-service industry. The company’s reputation is that of producing quality products and custom solutions for the food industry.
OSI had its origins in its founder, Otto Kolschowsky over 100 years ago. In 1928 the company was known as Otto and Son and by 1975, the company was called OSI Industries. OSI Industries is a subsidiary of the OSI Group whose revenues are well over $6 million from 2016.
Europe’s British Council awarded OSI with its Globe of Honour representing an excellence in environmental management. OSI’s President and COO, David McDonald reports that OSI is set to become the premier Global Food Provider to Leading Branded Companies around the world.
In 2016, OSI Group LLC acquired Chicago’s Tyson Food Facility and Europe’s Flagship and Baho Foods. The purchase of the Flagship Food Group brings desserts, poultry, and condiments into its fine line of products.
With the purchase of The Baho Food Company, OSI expanded its ownership of additional manufacturing companies and five of its affiliations. Acquiring the expansive Tyson Food Facility benefits the OSI Industry’s continued growth in the Illinois area.
Also in April 2017, a division of the OSI Group, the OSI Europe Foodworks, acquired the privately owned Hynek Schlachthof GmbH, based in Tauberbischofsheim, Germany. The Hynek Company was a well-established local beef slaughter operation.
David McDonald states that the OSI mission is to remain transparent with its customers. He said that because OSI Group is privately owned, it enables them to be more flexible with their management solutions and the ability to think further into the future.
