Jeremy Goldstein: Preeminent Member of the New York State Bar

For 35 years, the New York State Bar Association has offered a attorney referral service that matches members of the public with local lawyers according to the client’s need. The Lawyer Referral and Information Service (LRIS) has launched a new 24-hour portal where potential clients can request an attorney referral. The service, online at https://nysbalris.legal.io, is a joint project of the Bar Association with legal.io, a legal provider of software and other IT solutions to attorneys and law firms.

The free service will work in conjunction with the 17 county-level referral services that already exist in New York State. In counties where no such referral service is available, LRIS will provide a referral to a skilled attorney directly. Clients take a questionnaire on the site in which they describe their reason for hiring an attorney. LRIS then locates an attorney experienced in that field of law and in good standing with the State Bar. Customers who would prefer to request a referral by phone can continue to do so at 1-800-342-3661.
